Cynthia McCoy Miller has been employed with Los Angeles County since 1980 and has over time worked her way up the ranks to third in command of the largest chid welfare organization in the nation, currently serving as a Senior Deputy Director with the Department of Children and Family Services. Mrs. McCoy Miller has extensive experience in performance based management and administrative operations. In her current role, which she has held since 2012, Mrs. McCoy Miller provides executive leadership and oversight for more than 1,300 employees in the largest and most complex administratve bureau within the Department, the Mega Bureau. The bureau is comprised of contracts, budgets and finance, information technology, and human resources and training, as well as other programmatic and administrative functions. Throughout her career, Mrs. McCoy Miller has received several awards of achievement and commendations in the areas of leadership, professionalism, and innovation, to name a few.
Mrs. McCoy Miller earned her associate degree from Los Angeles Southwest College, a bachelor's degree from Cal Poly Pomona and a master's degree from the university of Southern California. All of her studies were in social work with her post-graduate education focusing on community organization, planning and administration.
In addition, Mrs. McCoy Miller launched her own podcast last year (in early 2020) called Cynthia@theTable available on Facebook, Stitcher, Spotify and other social media platforms. The show offers advice, encouragement, mentoring and leadership coaching to others in their professional and personal endeavors.
